Cultivation of Maize
For its full height, its width and the number of children per plant ensures increased production. Its average yield is 600 maunds per acre and can be taken up to 40 maunds per acre in High production.
Land and its preparation
Heavy Fertile land is best for cultivation where the water drainage is good. Its yield is low in areas with high rainfall. It is necessary to prepare and level the land well by plowing it three or four times.
Cultivation Time
The fodder crop can be cultivated from February 15 to October. The crop after the tambar is not successful. Complete its cultivation for seeds in July.
Seed rate
Use 40-50 kg seed per acre for fodder crop and 12-15 kg seed per acre for cover crop.
Cultivation Method
For fodder, the crop is generally cultivated in flats, but for better growth and yield, it should be cultivated with drills in rows of one foot apart. Since its grain is thick, it should be cultivated in the Trotur so that the growth can be improved and a good yield can be obtained. The distance between the rows in the seed crop should be two to two and a half feet.
Uses of fertilizers
Determine the amount of fertilizer based on laboratory soil analysis, but follow the recommendations below for average fertile soil.
